Jonathan Joyce, CPA (British Columbia), CA, CFA

I am a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant, and Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder living in the Cayman Islands. I graduated from the University of Saskatchewan having majored in accounting before starting my career in 1997 in Kelowna with  KPMG.

In the fall of 2000, I moved to the Cayman Islands and worked for Deloitte, auditing hedge funds. That work got me involved in the CFA program, which I successfully completed after moving to Calgary in 2005.

I worked for Deloitte in Calgary for a brief period before leaving to start a consulting business in the fall of 2006. That business turned into a Controller role for a multinational private oil company. I left that role in the fall of 2008 to join Waseca Energy Inc. as its Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. We sold the company in the fall of 2012, earning our shareholders a 140% return on their investment. In November, 2013, my family and I returned to the Cayman Islands.

I currently provide consulting services to Canadian companies, focusing on corporate governance and financial reporting. I have compiled much of what I know into a book entitled, The CFO’s Guide to Good Corporate Governance.  That book is available for purchase on Amazon and ITunes. I also work for a private company in Cayman focusing on corporate governance and run a golf tourism business.

I am also available to provide freelance writing services on a variety of topics. In addition to corporate governance, I am skilled at drafting financial reporting documents, press releases and related copy writing. I also enjoy writing about sports, primarily through my sports blog. I have also written for the now defunct lowonoil.com

I spend my spare time with my wife and daughter, on the golf course, playing guitar or travelling.
